Crown Agents USA, Inc. (CA-USA) is seeking an Agricultural Marketing Strategy Advisor for an anticipated USAID/Bureau for Food Security (BFS) “Feed the Future Marketing to Scale” Program located in Washington, DC.

Project Description

This program will develop marketing campaigns that will result in an increased number of smallholder farmers utilizing new agricultural technologies. These marketing campaigns will support the BFS and USAID missions in Feed the Future countries where existing projects are underway to promote the use of new technologies among smallholder farmers. The objective is to increase demand for the technologies among existing direct project beneficiaries as well as the broader, or indirect, smallholder community. USAID estimates that 35 marketing campaigns will be conducted over the five years of the contract.

Specific Responsibilities

The Agriculture Marketing Strategy Expert will lead component two (agriculture marketing strategy). Climate resilient commodity (maize) marketing is relatively sophisticated in some countries, but less sophisticated in other countries. The optimal climate resilient maize marketing media mix for each target country will be different and strongly influenced by regulatory, socio-economic, and cultural factors. The following activities will be required in target countries: branding and positioning, pricing strategy, promotional strategies, and sales planning. S/he will be the primary point of contact for USAID-directed questions in this activity area and will be responsive to the COR and CO with regards to inquiries in this area of responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in the marketing activities in this activity area
  • Bachelors’ degree in a relevant subject
  • Should possess sufficient knowledge of several marketing areas in addition to primary expertise
